Earnie Shavers Dies at 78, it is with great sadness that we report the death of Earnie Shavers, one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. Shavers was 77 years old. He passed away on September 2, 2022.
Shavers was known for his incredible punching power, which earned him the nickname “The Black Destroyer.” He had a professional record of 74-14-1 with 68 knockouts. In his prime, he was one of the most feared punchers in boxing. He fought some of the biggest names in the sport, including Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, and Larry Holmes. He also holds the distinction of being the only man to ever knockout both Ali and Foreman.
Earnie Shavers will go down as one of the all-time greats in boxing history. He will be sorely missed.
