Accessibility Statement
URBT News, a division of Urban TV Network Corp., wants urbtnews.com to be usable by everyone, including people with disabilities and people who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control, and keyboard-only navigation.
Our standard
We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), as the standard for this website.
Conformance status
urbtnews.com is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform. We are actively working to close those gaps.
What we are doing
- Testing the site with automated accessibility tools and fixing the issues they find, including color contrast, form labels, link names, and page structure.
- Checking every new article in our editor for accessibility problems before and after it is published.
- Providing a “Skip to content” link, visible keyboard focus indicators, and clearly labeled navigation.
- Writing descriptive alternative text for images.
- Adding transcripts to podcast episodes and captions to video.
- Reviewing our pages periodically with keyboard-only and screen reader testing.
Known limitations
- Third-party content. Advertisements, social media embeds, and some video players are provided by outside companies and may not fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA. We choose accessible options where available.
- Submitted press releases. Press releases supplied by outside organizations may contain images or documents that lack full accessibility. Contact us and we will provide the content in an accessible format.
- Archived content. Some older articles and podcast episodes may be missing transcripts or detailed image descriptions. We are updating these over time and will prioritize any you request.
