Ron DeSantis takes Aim in new ‘Top Gov’ video, the spot, which was posted on Twitter by the Florida governor’s wife on Monday night, showed DeSantis as a Top Gun-inspired “Top Gov” while taking aim at “corporate media”.

In a new video posted on Twitter by his wife, Florida governor Ron DeSantis takes aim at what he sees as the “top government” overreach. DeSantis is shown in the spot driving a golf cart and then taking aim with a golf club at a computer screen featuring images of President Biden, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. “The ‘Top Gov‘ thinks they know better than you,” the text reads.

“Ron DeSantis is fighting back.” The video then touts the governor’s record on taxes, jobs, and school choice. It ends with the message: “Ron DeSantis: Doing what’s right for Florida.” The video is part of an apparent effort by the governor to appeal to Trump supporters in the state. Earlier this month, he held an event at former president Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. And last week, he visited a Daytona Beach gun range with Fox News host Sean Hannity.

“Is Gov. Ron Desantis the real maverick? Voters want to know.”

“I’m taking aim at the top government in Florida,” he says in the video. “There’s too much bureaucracy, too many taxes, and too many regulations. I’m going to make Florida great again.” The video then cuts to footage of DeSantis with President Donald Trump, as well as footage of the governor signing bills into law. The spot ends with DeSantis saying, “I’m Ron DeSantis, and I approve this message.”
