A Milwaukee County judge has sentenced Maxwell Anderson, 33, to life in prison without the possibility of parole for killing and dismembering 19-year-old college student Sade Robinson after their first date in April 2024.
What happened
Robinson and Anderson met for a first date on April 1, 2024, at the Twisted Fisherman seafood restaurant on West Canal Street in Milwaukee. Prosecutors said Robinson was last seen alive at Anderson’s home. Her car was found burned the next day, and video showed Anderson leaving the scene. He was arrested two days later during a traffic stop.

Investigators later found Robinson’s remains in several places around the Milwaukee area. One arm washed up on a beach in Waukegan, Illinois, about 53 miles away.
The verdict and sentence
In June 2025, a jury found Anderson guilty of first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse, arson of property and hiding a corpse. At sentencing in August 2025, Milwaukee County Judge Laura Crivello imposed life without parole and said she did not believe Anderson had shown remorse.
Assistant District Attorney Ian Vance-Curzan told the court that Robinson was “disgraced in the worst way imaginable” after her death. Anderson continued to deny the crimes and claimed an unknown attacker had abducted Robinson. He went to trial without seeking a plea deal.
The family speaks
Robinson’s father, mother and sister addressed the court. Her sister described how the killing has affected her daily life and her ability to trust people. The family has also filed a civil lawsuit against Anderson, and Robinson’s mother has sued two Milwaukee bars that allegedly served her daughter while she was underage.
